Environmental Responsibility

We create with respect for the world around us.

We are constantly moving our production towards higher efficiency and a smaller ecological footprint. We comply with all legislative requirements in the field of environmental protection and every day we look for ways to have an even smaller impact on nature. We hold the ISO 14001 certification, which confirms our commitment to responsible environmental management. We rely on innovation, smart technologies, and a responsible approach in our daily work.

How We Care for the Environment

✅ Monitoring Our Carbon Footprint

Data are the foundation of a responsible approach. We regularly measure our carbon footprint in the areas of energy consumption, production, and transport, and identify areas where we can reduce it further.

Our goal is to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 66% by 2030 compared to the 2021 baseline. Cumulatively since 2021, we have reduced emissions by 55% as of 2024, and thanks to the efficiency of our own solar power plant, we believe we will gradually meet this goal.

✅ Planet-Friendly Technologies

We are modernizing production processes to be maximally efficient while gentle on the environment. We reduce energy consumption, emission output, and waste volume. We replace hazardous substances with safer alternatives that put less strain on nature.

✅ Clean Air and Water

We implement advanced technologies in our operations, such as catalytic oxidation, which reduces volatile organic compound emissions. We also ensure the treatment and quality of wastewater to protect surrounding ecosystems.

✅ Renewable Energy and Savings

We are reducing energy consumption and gradually introducing renewable energy sources, especially photovoltaics. At the same time, we implement energy-saving measures across the entire operation.

✅ Sustainable Packaging

We minimize the amount of packaging material and are transitioning to monomaterial solutions that are easy to recycle. We replace traditional fillers with ecological alternatives and, where possible, reuse packaging.

✅ Recycling as Part of Production

For us, waste isn't an end, but the start of a new cycle. We diligently sort, recycle, and regenerate raw materials directly within production. We clean used solvents and return them to the process, thus saving materials and energy.

✅ Circular Approach

Our strategy is built on the principles of the circular economy, from product design to end-of-life. We think ahead, considering repairability, recyclability, and the potential for reuse.

✅ Design with the Future in Mind

When developing products and manufacturing processes, we focus on long service life, minimal waste, and maximum efficiency. Smart design today means less burden on the planet tomorrow.

✅ Care for Green Spaces on the Premises

We regularly take care of the maintenance and restoration of green spaces on the company premises. We perceive greenery as a natural part of the working environment and as an element that contributes to climate protection and improving air quality.

✅ Involvement in the Green Company Project

We are involved in the Green Company project in cooperation with the company REMA. This allows for the collection and ecological processing of discarded small electrical equipment, not only within the company but also for our employees, who can use this service for their own needs as well.

✅ Adhering to Global Standards

Our responsible business also includes strict compliance with international requirements for chemical safety and the ethical origin of materials. We follow the principles of REACH, RoHS, and TSCA directives, and actively address the issue of conflict minerals.

REACH

Meopta s.r.o. supports the objective of the REACH Regulation 1907/2006, as amended—to not manufacture, place on the market, or use substances that adversely affect human health or the environment—and complies with all obligations arising from this regulation.

Meopta s.r.o. provides its customers with reliable information regarding Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC), as required by Article 33 of the REACH Regulation.

Declaration on SVHC Substances in Articles:

Below you will find an overview of the most frequently occurring SVHC substances that may be present in our products. For articles where the substance concentration is > 0.1% w/w, Meopta has already provided information to its customers.

RoHS

Meopta s.r.o. complies with the requirements of RoHS 2011/65/EU, as amended, which sets out rules on the restriction of the use of hazardous substances (RoHS Annex II) in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) with the aim of contributing to the protection of human health and the environment.

Based on documentation provided by the customer, Meopta s.r.o. evaluates EEE falling within the scope of this Directive (RoHS Annex I) while also taking into account applications exempted from the restriction (RoHS Annex III). We issue RoHS Certificates of Conformity upon request.

TSCA

For the US market, Meopta s.r.o. adheres to the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) Section 6(h), issued by the EPA (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency)—to restrict the use of persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic (PBT) chemicals. We issue TSCA Certificates of Conformity upon request.

Conflict Minerals Reports

Meopta s.r.o. implements 3TG legislation, which is part of Act No. 151/2021 and EU Regulation 2017/821, both based on the OECD Due Diligence Guidance. This means we do not use raw materials and minerals from areas experiencing complex security situations, where child labor is exploited for their extraction, and where the proceeds from these trades could be used to finance armed groups, violate human rights, and support corruption and money laundering.

These "conflict raw materials and minerals" include tin, tungsten, tantalum, and gold.

Meopta s.r.o. trades only with companies that also fulfill the requirements of these laws and regulations and cooperates with its suppliers to ensure that their minerals and raw materials do not originate from countries included in the conflict minerals list.
